* People who live in the same household. For Inclusive Karate classes, full class participation of a parent, sibling, friend, caregiver, or personal aide is included in tuition regardless of residence.

While there are expenses associated with running the club, our goal is to make karate affordable to everyone, particularly for single-parent households whose budgets are already stretched thin.  For almost 40 years, the mission of Bucks County Shotokan has always been to share karate, not sell it.

  • There are no contracts.
  • There are no testing or advancement fees.
  • When you pass a test, your belt is provided by the club at no cost to you.
  • When you pass a test, your rank certificate is provided by the club at no cost to you.
  • BCS members may suspend or cancel their membership at any time without penalty.
  • There are no BCS initial or annual membership fees. 
  • There are no SKA initial or annual membership fees.
  • There are no mandatory camps or seminars.
  • There are no mandatory tournaments to enter.
  • There are no "special training sessions" to pay extra for.
  • A uniform will cost between $85-$100 (our wholesale cost) depending on your size.
      • Our standard uniform is a heavyweight (12oz) 100% cotton white gi with a drawstring waist.
      • You can purchase your uniform at any time, but you will need one before advancing to 8th kyu.
      • If you prefer to purchase a uniform on your own, please check with us to make sure it's suitable for our practice.

No other equipment is needed, but students must maintain annual membership in the AAU for insurance purposes. 


* BCS uses Stripe for automated monthly billing. Members may suspend or cancel their membership, for any reason, at any time, on their own directly through Stripe. There are no penalties, past due payments, or other fees if you decide to resume classes at a later time.

New students of BCS age 21 or older must obtain membership (Adult-Karate-Extended Coverage) in the United States Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) National Karate Program at an annual cost of $35, paid directly by the student to the AAU.

New students age 20 or younger must obtain a Youth-Extended Coverage membership at an annual cost of $24, paid directly by the student to the AAU.

BCS reserves the right to limit monthly registrations to ensure sufficient attention for new students, but we do maintain a waiting list for interested prospective students.
